Monrovia – Dr. Thomas Nimene Tweh, Jr. famously known as Original Country Man has made a passionate plea that transcends political divides by declaring Liberia’s burgeoning drug crisis a “national emergency,” urging immediate and collective action to rescue a generation from the clutches of illegal substances. His statements comes ahead of a planned August 7 march, which he emphasized is motivated by love for country, not political ambition.
“This isn’t about politics. This is a national emergency!” Dr. Tweh exclaimed, his declaration resonating with urgency. “We cannot afford to remain silent while a generation is being lost to the grip of illegal substances.”
Dr. Tweh painted a stark picture of Liberia at a “critical crossroad,” highlighting the devastating effects of illicit drug abuse permeating communities. He decried how drug abuse is “destroying the lives of young people, fueling crime, tearing families apart, and threatening the future of our nation.”
Dispelling any notions of political maneuvering, Dr. Tweh clarified the intent behind the upcoming demonstration. “We are marching not out of anger, but out of love for our country and a deep commitment to its progress,” he stated. He outlined the march’s objectives clearly: “We march to raise awareness. We march to demand action. We march to say enough is enough.”
Original Country Man rallying cry underscored the need for unity in the face of this crisis: “TOGETHER WE MARCH!! MAKE LIBERIA GREAT AGAIN.” Dr. Tweh’s powerful message serves as a stark reminder that the fight against drug abuse requires a concerted, apolitical effort from all Liberians to safeguard the nation’s future.
