Monrovia — The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) Acting Officer-in-Charge, OIC Tarpeh, on behalf of OIC Biago and the Agency, on October 25, 2025 laid to rest agent Emmanuel Payne. At a funeral service for LDEA fallen officer authorities vowed that the LDEA will not rest until everyone involved in the gruesome murder of the late LDEA Agent Emmanuel Payne is brought to justice, a statement from LDEA is quoted as saying.
The late Officer Payne was murdered on July 22, 2025 in Caldwell, Johnson Street, by individuals believed to be drug dealers, users, or “zogos.” His killing has drawn widespread outrage and renewed calls for stronger action against illicit drug activities and criminal gangs.
OIC Tarpeh made these remarks during the funeral service held today at the Abraham Roberts Funeral Chapel. He also assured the public that no LDEA officer will ever be left unprotected or forgotten in the line of duty.
He extended the Agency’s heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family on behalf of all the gallant men and women of the LDEA.
In tribute to the fallen officer, friends and family members expressed deep grief over his tragic loss. While mourning, they also commended the current management team of the LDEA for their swift intervention that ensured Agent Payne was laid to rest with honor.
Many described the late Emmanuel Payne as a fearless and dedicated officer who always said he was willing to die in the service of the law if necessary.
The Agency reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining close ties with the Payne family and called on the public to assist the LDEA and the Liberia National Police in providing information that could lead to the arrest of the remaining suspects still on the run. Those already in custody are currently facing the full weight of the law, as the Agency continues to seek justice for the untimely death of Officer Payne and the Agency will use resources available to book those behind the brutal killing of Agent Emmanuel Payne and anyone attempting to harm any LDEA officers will be pursued to the fullest extent of their law, the LDEA said in a statement.
The acting OIC also said gone are the days when officers will be attacked or killed.
The late Officer Emmanuel Payne was laid to rest in Caldwell, near the grave of his late father.
Meanwhile, the LDEA is urging the public to contact its hotline with any information regarding individuals at large who may be linked to the murder of Officer Emmanuel Payne or any drug-related activities.
