Monrovia — Sinoe County Senator Crayton O. Duncan has issued a stern warning, vowing that the county will take legal action against the government if lawmakers approve the controversial Humanbrid agreement.
Senator Duncan argued that the deal, in its current form, offers no tangible benefits to the people of Sinoe County. He described the proposed agreement as “deeply flawed” and “one-sided,” insisting that it fails to promote local development or create meaningful opportunities for Sinoe citizens.
Drawing comparisons with previous arrangements involving Total Energy and Oranto Petroleum, Senator Duncan noted that those agreements yielded “real opportunities” for the county, including community projects and potential employment for residents. He lamented that the Humanbrid deal falls short of such standards and appears to favor foreign interests over the welfare of Liberians.
“We cannot continue to be spectators in our own development,” Duncan declared. “Any agreement that does not prioritize the interests of Sinoe County and its people will be strongly resisted through every legal means available.”
The Senator reaffirmed his commitment to protecting Sinoe’s rights and resources, warning that if the government proceeds with the deal without meaningful consultation or revision, he will pursue court action on behalf of his constituents.
The Humanbrid agreement, which is currently under legislative scrutiny, has become one of the most contentious issues before the National Legislature. Lawmakers and civil society organizations have raised serious questions about its transparency, equity, and long-term impact on local communities. Senator Duncan’s firm stance underscores the deepening division over the proposed deal and signals a potential political showdown if the agreement is passed without amendment.
