Executive Mansion, Monrovia — President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. today expressed profound appreciation after receiving the 2025 Samuel Kanyon Doe Peace and Progress Humanitarian Award, presented by Mr. Teddy Kimba Doe, son of the late President Samuel Kanyon Doe.
The presentation was held at the President’s Rehab offices in Paynesville.
President Boakai described the recognition as a meaningful gesture toward national healing and reconciliation. He commended the Samuel Kanyon Doe Legacy Foundation for its commitment to fostering unity and honoring the memory of the late President through constructive national engagement.
The Liberian Leader reflected fondly on his earlier years of service during the People’s Redemption Council (PRC) era, recalling moments of personal interaction and camaraderie with the late President Doe when he served as Minister of Agriculture.
He noted that the dignified reburial of the late President was an important step not just for the Doe family, but for the nation’s collective journey toward reconciliation.
President Boakai lauded Mr. Doe for his patriotism and dedication to giving back to Liberia. He welcomed the news of the formal launch of the Samuel Kanyon Doe Legacy Foundation Liberia and its upcoming programs, including a scholarship scheme at the Grand Gedeh County University in Zwedru.
The President emphasized that such initiatives align with his Administration’s vision for inclusive development, youth empowerment, and national unity.
“As a nation, we move forward when we choose reconciliation over division and service over conflict,” President Boakai said, adding, “This award symbolizes not just recognition of our efforts, but a shared commitment to building a peaceful and united Liberia.”
The President assured the Foundation of his support as it undertakes programs that contribute positively to national development and community upliftment.
