Monrovia, Liberia — For the first time in more than four decades, the Government of Liberia is restoring public electricity to Bensonville, Bentol City, Crozierville and surrounding communities, marking a major milestone in the country’s infrastructure development drive under President Joseph Nyuma Boakai Sr.
The announcement was made during a final inspection tour ahead of the official commissioning of the project by President Boakai. Speaking to journalists, the Chief Executive Officer of Chris Electrical, Mr. Chris Johnson, commended the government for what he described as a people-centered approach to development, taking electricity “community to community, door to door.”
“The evidence is here for everyone to see,” Johnson said. “Streetlights are being installed across these communities, and the citizens are extremely excited to see electricity restored after more than forty years. Today, we are testing the transformers, and everything is in place.”
Mr. Johnson emphasized that the project was personally designated by President Boakai in fulfillment of a campaign promise made to the people of Bentol and its environs. According to him, the overwhelming response from residents reflects renewed confidence in the President’s commitment to deliver on his pledges.
Also speaking, the Chief Executive Officer of Global Engineering and Consultancy, Mr. Theophilus S. Quoisaye, whose firm is partnering with Chris Electrical on the project, expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work. He disclosed that the project is on track to be completed within the agreed timeline, well ahead of Christmas.
Quoisaye further revealed that a technical team from the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) recently inspected the ongoing works and found no faults, a development he described as a strong endorsement of the project’s standards and execution.
The restoration of electricity to Bensonville, Bentol, Crozierville and surrounding areas is expected to boost economic activities, improve security through street lighting, and significantly enhance the quality of life for thousands of residents who have lived without public power supply for decades.
