MONROVIA – In recognition of ongoing efforts to transform the nation’s legal landscape, a civil society group under the banner National Youth Council of Liberia (NYCL) today formally honored the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Republic of Liberia, Cllr. N. Oswald Tweh, for his “level of good work” and commitment to systemic change.
During a presentation ceremony held at the Ministry of Justice Conference room, the civil society group lauded the Minister’s leadership, specifically citing significant improvements in access to justice and a renewed vigor in upholding the rule of law across Liberia.
Recognizing Reform and Accountability
The NYCL leadership emphasized that the honor reflects a growing public appreciation for the Ministry’s current trajectory. They highlighted that under Minister Tweh’s tenure, there has been a visible shift toward making the justice system more responsive to the needs of ordinary citizens.
“The reforms being implemented are not just administrative; they are promoting a culture of accountability that Liberia needs,” a spokesperson for the group stated during the awards presentation.
Official Response
Minister Tweh was unable to attend the ceremony in person due to pressing official engagements. Receiving the award on his behalf, Atty. Siafa Bahn Kemokai, Special Assistant to the Minister, expressed deep gratitude for the gesture.
“My boss would have loved to be present today to receive this honor personally, but his tight schedule made it impossible,” Atty. Kemokai explained. “However, I can assure you that the Minister will be very pleased to receive this honor. It serves as a motivation to continue the work of reforming our justice system for all Liberians.”
The ceremony concluded with the civil society group pledging their continued support for the Ministry’s reform agenda, noting that a fair justice system is the bedrock of national stability.
