During the visit, the U.S. officials commended the LDEA for its visible impact, noting that the agency’s recent work has earned praise both within Liberia and from the international community.
The meeting served as a platform for deep-dive discussions on the evolving landscape of drug enforcement in West Africa. Key topics included: Improving the chain of custody and forensic evidence to ensure successful prosecutions, Managing porous entry points to prevent the transit of illicit substances and Expanding the LDEA’s manpower through specialized training and technical support.
To sustain the momentum against transnational organized crime, the LDEA outlined its most urgent operational requirements. The agency emphasized the need for:
Body-Worn Cameras: To ensure transparency and provide undeniable evidence during field operations.
Logistical Support: Improved vehicles and equipment to extend the LDEA’s reach into rural and coastal areas.
Enhanced Intelligence: Access to advanced tools for tracking high-level trafficking syndicates.
