Barrobo, Maryland County – The Office of Austin B. Taylor has announced that construction of a permanent concrete bridge along the Dorrobo–Barrobo road will officially begin next week, bringing long-awaited relief to residents and commuters in the area.
According to a public statement from the lawmaker’s office, the bridge project will be executed over a 90-day construction period in line with the contractor’s work plan. During this time, only motorcycles will be permitted to use the route, as restrictions will be enforced to ensure safety throughout the construction phase.
The previous bridge, which served as a critical crossing point for the Dorrobo and Barrobo communities, was initially constructed as an emergency intervention by Rep. Taylor using logs and plant materials after residents appealed for urgent help to restore movement along the route.
However, the temporary structure was recently destroyed beyond repair when an overloaded truck carrying crushed rocks and steel rods attempted to cross it, leaving residents without reliable access.
In response to the situation, Rep. Taylor has mobilized resources to replace the damaged crossing with a strong and durable concrete bridge, a development expected to significantly improve transportation, trade, and access to essential services for communities across District #3.
The initiative forms part of the Representative’s ongoing infrastructure development efforts, particularly aimed at improving road networks and connectivity in rural communities throughout the district.
