MONROVIA, LIBERIA – A wave of condemnation has flooded social media across Liberia following controversial statements by Montserrado County District 10 Representative Yekeh Y. Kolubah. The backlash stems from claims made by Kolubah that Liberia has surrendered parts of its sovereign territory to the Republic of Guinea—a “disturbing” revelation that has led to growing calls for his impeachment.
Joining the chorus of critics, Montserrado County District 8 Representative Prince A. Toles has labeled the advancement of foreign interests over national sovereignty as a “grave breach of public trust.”
In a strongly worded statement released via his official Facebook page on March 25, 2026, Representative Toles expressed deep concern over actions he described as unpatriotic and in direct violation of the sacred oath taken by lawmakers to uphold the Constitution of the Republic of Liberia.
The District 8 lawmaker emphasized that the role of an elected official is to serve as a guardian of the state’s independence. He argued that any alignment with foreign entities that contravenes Liberian law is not merely a political failing, but a fundamental betrayal of the people’s mandate.
“It is both disheartening and unpatriotic for a duly elected lawmaker, sworn to uphold the Constitution of Liberia, to betray that oath by advancing the interests of a foreign nation in contravention of the sovereignty and laws of the Republic of Liberia,” Toles stated.
He further noted that such conduct “undermines the integrity of the republic,” suggesting that the stability of Liberia’s institutions depends entirely on the loyalty of its leaders.
Representative Toles’ comments come amid a heightened border dispute between Liberia and Guinea, following reports of Guinean military personnel appearing on Liberian territory. Despite the severity of the allegations against his colleague, Toles concluded his message with an appeal for national resilience and optimism.
“Nevertheless, our country will remain strong in these difficult and decisive moments and will ultimately prevail in unity,” he affirmed.
Toles’ statement follows a report earlier today by The Informer Newspaper, in which Liberian journalist Aloysius Jallah launched a sharp critique of the District 10 lawmaker. Jallah in a post, called for the ousting of Rep. Kolubah amid his remarks regarding a “grave” national security issue, given his position as a member of the first branch of government.
As of the time of this report, Representative Kolubah has offered no official response to the allegations as critics continue to push for legislative action.
