Harper, Maryland County – Maryland County Senator James P. Biney has procured more than 300 solar-powered streetlights, complete with poles, for installation across communities in Maryland County as part of efforts to improve public infrastructure and enhance security.
The project is expected to be officially dedicated on July 26, 2026, during activities marking Liberia’s 179th Independence Day.
According to information gathered by Informer Newspaper, the initiative is aimed at increasing access to reliable public lighting, improving nighttime visibility, and promoting safer communities throughout the county.
The installation is also expected to support local businesses and residents by creating a safer environment for evening activities.
The solar-powered streetlights, which operate on renewable energy, are expected to reduce dependence on conventional electricity while providing sustainable lighting in key public areas.
