A cross section of employees of the Independent National Commission on Human Rights (INCHR) has welcomed President Joseph Nyumah Boakai Sr.’s appointment of Cllr. Mohammed E. Fahnbulleh as Acting Chairperson of the Commission, describing the decision as a timely move to preserve stability and ensure the uninterrupted operation of the country’s premier human rights institution.
In a statement issued through the Independent National Commission on Human Rights Staff Association (INCHRSA), the employees praised the President for what they termed a demonstration of leadership and commitment to protecting the Commission’s mandate during a critical period.
The employees noted that the appointment comes as investigations continue into allegations involving the suspended Chairperson. They said designating an Acting Chairperson will allow the Commission to continue carrying out its constitutional responsibilities without interruption while due process is respected.
According to the statement, the President’s action reflects prudence and reinforces confidence in public institutions by ensuring continuity in leadership at a time when the Commission’s work remains vital to promoting and protecting human rights across Liberia.
The employees stressed that uninterrupted leadership is essential to maintaining public trust, advancing ongoing human rights initiatives, and enabling Liberia to meet its national and international human rights obligations.
They also reaffirmed their commitment to working with Acting Chairperson Cllr. Mohammed E. Fahnbulleh, pledging their full support in advancing the Commission’s mandate to uphold the rights and dignity of all Liberians.
