Monrovia, Liberia – The Liberia National Police (LNP) today, September 2, confirmed the arrest of suspect Amos K. Koffa, previously charged in absentia in connection with the December 18, 2024, Capitol Building Arson Case.
Koffa, who formerly served as Maintenance Department Supervisor at the Capitol Building, fled Liberia on April 6, 2025, under the alias “Roland King.” His escape followed allegations linking him to the arson incident, in which other suspects allegedly aided him.
Through coordinated efforts with the Ghana Police Service and INTERPOL, the LNP obtained intelligence indicating that Koffa had moved to Ghana. He was placed on the international watch list and, in July 2025, narrowly evaded arrest during a joint security operation.
Following sustained surveillance and collaboration with regional security partners, Koffa was finally apprehended on September 1, 2025, at the Loguatuo Border during a coordinated operation led by joint security forces.
He is currently in LNP custody and undergoing investigation at the Police Headquarters in Monrovia. The suspect will be sent to court at the right time to face formal legal proceedings.
The Liberia National Police in a statement said it reaffirms its commitment to justice and will ensure that all individuals implicated in this case are held accountable under the law. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
