Monrovia – In a move to further escalate its war against corruption, the National Integrity Forum (NIF) with support from the Center for Transparency and Accountability in Liberia (CENTAL) through the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) today, hosted a one-day Integrity Building and Anti-Corruption Awareness with citizens of Matadi Community to strengthen collaboration in tackling corruption.
Held under the theme: “See something, say something, NIF will do something”, brought together at least fifty (50) participants from across New and Old Matadi Estates.
The training was meant to brighten participants understanding about the effect of corruption and how they can help in the fight against the ill that continue to affect their livelihoods.

Speaking at the opening of the one day event, Gray A. Sonii, Chairman of Central Matadi, who represented the participating communities welcomed participants to the forum on behalf of members of the communities. He said the forum will be the beginning of uniting residents of Matadi, stressing the need to hold a successful Matadi forum in future.
Also speaking at the forum, Mr. Lawrence Yealue, Executive Director of Accountability Lab admonished participants to be agent of change in their communities by considering accountability and transparency as a tool for addressing the issues of corruption.
For his part, CENTAL Executive Director Anderson D. Miamen emphasized the need for active citizens’ participation in the fight against corruption. Miamen thanked the NIF for the level of work being carried out in keeping citizens abreast with war the on corruption. He encouraged participants to make use of the hotline (4432) in order to report corruption.
