LRA CG James Dorbor Jallah
Monrovia, Liberia – The Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) has categorically dismissed as false and misleading a social media report suggesting that President Joseph Nyuma Boakai instructed the LRA Commissioner General, James Dorbor Jallah, to “ground” a bus belonging to former First Lady Clar Marie Weah.
The LRA clarifies that at no time has the President interfered in the professional and statutory operations of the Authority.
“The report is an imaginative fabrication with no iota of truth, designed to drag the LRA and its leadership into unnecessary political market noise”, the LRA said in a statement.
“Equally laughable and misleading is the claim that the LRA refused to accept payment from Madam Weah.”
The Authority’s mandate is to collect every dime and cent due the Government of Liberia, with its own ambitious revenue mobilization target of one billion.
The suggestion that the LRA would reject legitimate duty payments demonstrates a clear lack of understanding of how the LRA operates.
The LRA said it remains focused on its mission of enhancing domestic resource mobilization to support national development.
The LRA called on the public to disregard such unfounded reports and rely only on official communications from the authorities.
