Monrovia – The Unity Party District 14 Youth Chapter has rolled out an Educational Package and Financial Aid Program worth ten thousand United States dollars (US$10,000), targeting children whose parents cannot afford to send them to school.
The launch took place over the weekend in Monrovia, bringing together parents, students, and community leaders.
Speaking at the event, Mulbah Livingston, one of the executives of the District 14 Youth League, said the initiative is in direct alignment with President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s Rescue Mission agenda, which prioritizes education and human capacity development.
“This program is for the children of District 14 whose parents are unable to shoulder the financial burden of school fees. Education is the surest path to empowerment, and we believe every child must be given that chance. This is part of supporting the Rescue Mission,” Livingston said.
According to him, the project will benefit over 200 children across the district and covers tuition as well as other school-related needs. He emphasized that the $10,000 allocation is a demonstration of the youth wing’s commitment to empowering the next generation through education.
Parents and guardians who attended the ceremony expressed gratitude to the Unity Party youths, noting that the program came at a critical time when many families are battling financial constraints.
“I had no idea how I was going to send my children to school this year. This program is a blessing for us, and I thank the Unity Party Youth Chapter for taking this step,” said one beneficiary parent.
Community leaders also applauded the initiative, saying it complements government’s efforts to strengthen the education sector and reduce the high rate of school dropouts.
Observers say the launch of the District 14 program reflects the ruling party’s grassroots efforts to translate the Rescue Mission from policy statements into practical community-level actions.
The Unity Party Youth Chapter assured residents that this is just the beginning, with more initiatives in the pipeline to promote skills training, leadership development, and youth empowerment.
