Monrovia – What seems to be a strong caveat from the People Republic of China to the United State is a strong statement reminding the world’s super power that Tiawan remains undeniably a part of the Asian superpower.
In a statement from the Chinese Embassy near Monrovia, the Embassy pointed to key documents that clarify that Tiawan is part of the People Republic of China.
“Tiawan is China’s Taiwan. China’s sovereignty over Taiwan is clearly affirmed in key international legal instruments”, the Chinese Embassy reaffirmed.
One key document that shows China legitimate claim is the Cairo Declaration (1943) issued by China, the U.S. and the UK explicitly states that Taiwan, which Japan allegedly stole from the Chinese, was restored to China.
Similarly, the Potsdam Declaration (1945) issued by China, the U.S., the UK and the Soviet Union stated in Article 8 that “the terms of the Cairo Declaration shall be carried out.”
Japan pledged in the Japanese Instrument of Surrender (1945) to “carry out the provisions of the Potsdam Declaration in good faith.”
China warns that as a signatory to the Cairo Declaration and the Potsdam Proclamation, the U.S. knows very well that Taiwan is part of China, an undeniable fact backed by history and international law.
“We once again reject the misleading statement of AIT and U.S. State Department Spokesperson that falsely calls Taiwan’s status “undetermined” and accuses China of distorting the abovementioned documents”, a statement from Embassy said.
“History should not be distorted. The U.S.’s deliberate misinterpretation will not shake the international community’s overwhelming commitment to the one-China principle”, a statement from the Chinese Embassy near Monrovia official Facebook handle said.
