Monrovia – In continuation of preparations to review Liberia’s Boundary Delimitation process, the National Elections Commission (NEC) is today, 1st October hosting a three-day dialogue with civil society organizations, the media, Press Union of Liberia – PUL and other key stakeholders.
The event, taking place at a local hotel in Monrovia, brings together nearly 35 participants to share views and recommendations on how the upcoming Boundary Delimitation Review process can be effectively implemented.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, NEC Chairperson Madam Davidetta Browne Lansanah described the Boundary Delimitation Review as “the most complex of all electoral processes in Liberia.”
She emphasized that the Liberian context of Boundary Delimitation and Reapportionment of Constituencies involves social, cultural, political, economic, and technical complexities, which must be carefully guided and handled with caution.
The exercise forms part of the UNDP Liberia – Electoral Support Project – LESP, co-funded by the European Union in Liberia, Irish Aid, and the Embassy of Sweden in Monrovia, and implemented in partnership with UN Women and the Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy-NIMD, with additional support from other international partners.
