Monrovia – Days after been elected on white ballot at the Alternative National Congress (ANC) convention in Kakata, Margibi County and his subsequent appearance on Spoon Network to discuss national issues Mr. Alexander Benedict Cummings has raised eyebrows over his recent meeting with Nimba County Senator Samuel G. Kogar.
Cummings, in an appearance on Spoon Network’s show “one on one with the CEO” on October 5, 2025 blasted the current ruling Unity Party (UP) of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai for failing to improve the livelihood of ordinary Liberians.
The ANC political leader who is seeking the highest office of the Executive Mansion is believed to already be seeking political marriage in vote-rich Nimba, a county notable for deciding recent elections in Liberia.
Cummings statement today following a meeting with Sen. Kogar at his residence has raised concerns about a potential political marriage in the 2029 general and presidential elections.
Cummings, while thanking supporters and well-wishers following his appearance on Spoon said, “Thank you all for tuning in last night to the conversation on Spoon TV.”
“Earlier today, I was pleased to have Sen. Kogar visit with me at my home. It was our first meeting since his election and I congratulated him and wished him well.”
Cummings said they spoke of “issues affecting our country and people” and confirmed that Sen. Kogar even shared plans for the people of Nimba with him.
“We look forward to re-engaging with the people’s representatives both in the House and Senate,” Cummings stated.
These kinds of engagements send messages of potential collaboration in Liberian politics given the fact that Sen. Kogar has fallen out with current Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung following allegations of disrespect in the Nimba County District 5 by-elections.
Cummings early engagement underscores his early push for the nation’s highest office. Recently, while visiting the Center for the Exchange of Intellectual Opinion (CEIO), the ANC standard bearer descended on the government for not taking immediate and decisive action to combat the rampant importation and abuse of dangerous drugs in Liberia.
