MONROVIA – The holiday season ended on a high note for two local shoppers as Stop and Shop Supermarket, in collaboration with Badia Seasoning, officially announced the winners of its highly anticipated December Raffle Draw.
The giveaway, sponsored by Badia, drew hundreds of entries throughout the festive month. The promotion concluded with a prize-giving ceremony that transformed an ordinary shopping day into a life-changing moment for two lucky individuals.
Transparency and Big Prizes
The raffle was designed to reward loyal customers at the supermarket’s Congo Town and 17th Street branches. To ensure full transparency, employees of the supermarket were prohibited from participating in the promotion. The stakes were high, with two grand prizes of brand-new motorbikes valued at over $800 USD each.
The Lucky Winners
Mr. Thomas Garlo, the grand prize winner from the Congo Town branch, expressed deep appreciation to Badia for the initiative, admitting the win took him completely by surprise.
“I am so happy to win this motorbike. To be honest, I didn’t believe it was true when I received a call from an unknown number telling me ‘Congratulations, you have won a motorbike,'” Mr. Garlo stated as he was presented with the keys during the ceremony.
Madam Bendu Kanneh, the grand prize winner representing the 17th Street branch, spoke joyfully about the economic impact the prize would have on her life.
“I am a motorbike owner in 2026! Where would I have found the money to buy a bike that costs more than $800?” Madam Kanneh asked rhetorically. She hailed Badia and Stop and Shop for the draw, expressing hope that the initiative would be extended to help even more people in the future.
A Commitment to Customers
A spokesperson for Stop and Shop Supermarket expressed the company’s excitement during the presentation, noting that the raffle was a way of “putting a smile on the faces” of their clientele.
“Our customers are the heart of our business. Seeing the joy on the faces of these winners is the perfect way to wrap up the festive season and begin the year 2026. We are proud to serve our neighborhoods in Congo Town and Sinkor,” the representative stated.
Community Impact
For the winners, the prizes represent a powerful start to the New Year. Stop and Shop continues to be a staple in the Liberian retail landscape, known for its variety and community-focused initiatives. With the December draw now closed, customers are already looking forward to what the supermarket and its partners have in store for the remainder of 2026.
