Monrovia โ The Liberia National Police (LNP) has called for the respect of the rule of law as it acknowledged order from the Six Judicial Circuit Court to enforce the eviction of opposition political party the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC).
In a press statement issued today, the LNP said, “At this critical moment in our nationโs democratic journey, the Liberia National Police (LNP) reaffirms its neutrality and commitment to upholding the rule of law,” the LNP said.
The Sixth Judicial Circuit Court of Liberia has issued a writ of possession ordering the eviction of the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) from its headquarters.
The LNP said it has been mandated to assist in executing this lawful order on Saturday, August 23, 2025.
“As a professional institution, our role is constitutional, to preserve peace, protect lives, and ensure that the decisions of our courts are carried out without fear or favor”, a statement from the LNP is courted as saying.
“We call on the CDC, as one of Liberiaโs leading political institutions, to show statesmanship by respecting the authority of the courts”, the LNP said stressing, “Compliance with the law is not weakness, but strength, a demonstration of leadership and commitment to our democracy.”
The LNP also urged partisans and supporters of the CDC to remain peaceful and law-abiding. “Liberia has come too far to allow political disagreements to undermine the hard-won peace we all share”, said the LNP in a cautious call to CDC supporters.
The LNP said it reminds all citizens that peace is our collective responsibility. “Upholding the rule of law honors the sacrifices of the past and secures the future for generations to come.”
The statement from the LNP, though is a court mandate, whether the CDC will abide by the mandate remains a serious concern as the party earlier this month in a press conference said its current headquarters remain the home of Cdcians.
