H.E. Yin Chengwu, Chinese Ambassador to Liberia
Monrovia – The Chinese Embassy in Liberia hosted a reception on September 7 to celebrate the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and to commemorate two significant historical victories: the 80th anniversary of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. The event, attended by over 400 guests, underscored the strong diplomatic ties between China and Liberia.
The reception brought together high-profile officials from both nations, including H.E. Yin Chengwu, the Chinese Ambassador to Liberia, and Liberian leader H.E. Joseph Nyuma Boakai, President of the Republic of Liberia. Other notable attendees included His Honor Yamie Quiqui Gbeisay, Chief Justice of Liberia, and Liberia’s Foreign Minister H.E. Rev. Sara Beysolow Nyanti.
In his address, Ambassador Yin Chengwu reflected on China’s remarkable development achievements. He also highlighted the recent advancements in the strategic partnership between China and Liberia. The Ambassador stressed the immense sacrifices made by the Chinese people during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, a conflict that played a crucial role in the ultimate victory of the World Anti-Fascist War. Ambassador Yin also took the opportunity to present China’s “Global Governance Initiative,” a framework aimed at fostering international cooperation.
President Joseph Nyuma Boakai offered his congratulations on China’s National Day and honored the anniversaries of the wartime victories. He emphasized the importance of remembering the hard-won victory of the Chinese people’s resistance, acknowledging their tremendous sacrifices in the name of “human freedom, peace, and justice.”
President Boakai spoke highly of the long-standing friendly relations between Liberia and China. He expressed gratitude for China’s continued support and reaffirmed Liberia’s commitment to the one-China principle. The President stated that Liberia is eager to deepen its cooperation with China and work together toward common development.
The reception was marked by a warm and friendly atmosphere. Guests engaged in conversation and explored an exhibition of photos depicting the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression. Many attendees expressed that they were deeply moved by the historical images, reinforcing the shared understanding of the importance of remembering history and promoting peace.
