Monrovia — Veteran Liberian medic James Beyan Sumo has died following a period of illness.
According to family sources, the former IE and Lonestar medic died today after battling serious illness that had his leg rehabilitated.
Mr. Sumo, popularly known as IE Sumo underwent surgery for his legs earlier this year and was recovering at his home.
Mr. Sumo was a household name in Liberian football, having served as medic for the Lonestar National team and LFA First Division club Invincible Eleven for over two decades.
Details surrounding his death and subsequent burial have not be released to the public at this time as family members, friends, love ones and well-wishers mourn the passing of the popular Liberian medic.
