Madam Margaret Krote
Monrovia – The Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) has announced the appointment of Madam Margaret Krote as the new Commissioner of the Domestic Tax Department. Her appointment, which was approved by the LRA Board of Directors, is historic, as she becomes the first woman to hold the post
Madam Krote succeeds Mr. Darlington Y. Talery, who stepped down in 2024 after nine years of dedicated service to take on a new role with the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
The LRA stated that Madam Krote’s selection followed a rigorous and competitive recruitment process that received support from “respected international partner institutions and key stakeholders.”
Bringing over a decade of relevant expertise to her new role, Madam Krote is a veteran of the LRA. Her experience spans managerial roles in tax administration, auditing, compliance management, and enforcement. She previously served the Domestic Tax Department with distinction as a Manager and later as an Assistant Commissioner.
Following her approval, Madam Krote expressed her deep gratitude to the LRA Board of Directors for the confidence placed in her leadership. She also laid out her priorities for the department.
She vowed to focus on two key areas: building the department’s capacity and actively promoting voluntary tax compliance among citizens and businesses to enhance overall revenue mobilization for the country.
Madam Krote’s appointment is viewed as a significant step for the LRA and for women in leadership within Liberia’s public sector.
