Monrovia — As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen collaboration and coordination, the Customs Department of the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) on October 15, 2025 held its first multi-stakeholder dialogue with business representatives and the management of MEDTEH Scientific Liberia Ltd.
The engagement, held at the Liberia Chamber of Commerce in Monrovia, focused on enhancing customs processes and improving efficiency in trade facilitation.
LRA Customs Commissioner Saa Samoi reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to continuous improvement and modernization of customs operations. He emphasized ongoing reforms aimed at making trade processes simpler and easier for importers.
Commissioner Samoi cited several key elements driving the LRA’s reform agenda:
Digitalization of customs procedures.
Introduction of online payment systems.
Strengthened inspection measures.
MEDTEH CEO Oliver Rogers provided a major update, reporting significant progress on the Destination Inspection Site at the Freeport of Monrovia. This site is expected to be completed by August 2026 and will serve as a one-stop center designed to streamline customs operations and speed up clearance processes.
Liberia Chamber of Commerce Vice President Ahmed Wazni commended the LRA for spearheading the engagement and encouraged continued, peaceful dialogue between the business community and relevant stakeholders.
In their remarks, business participants expressed appreciation to both the LRA and MEDTEH for the initiative and called for sustained collaboration and regular engagements to further streamline trade and customs processes at the Freeport of Monrovia.
