MONROVIA – The Ad-hoc Election Committee of the Inter-Parties Consultative Committee (IPCC) has announced a postponement of the highly anticipated Secretariat Election. Originally slated for December 7–9, the polls will now take place from December 14–17, 2025.
In a formal communication addressed to all registered political parties in the Republic of Liberia, Committee Chairman Thomas O. Walker, Jr. cited “logistical constraints, unforeseen circumstances, and administrative adjustments” as the primary drivers behind the delay.
According to a statement release today, following consultations with key stakeholders, the committee has released a revised four-day itinerary to be hosted at the Passion 1 Conference Hall in Gbarnga City, Bong County:
December 14: Arrival of delegates.
December 15: Review and adoption of the IPCC By-laws.
December 16: Election Day.
December 17: Departure of participants.
Despite the change in dates, the Ad-hoc Election Committee emphasized that all previously communicated procedures, eligibility requirements, and guidelines remain strictly in effect.
“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding and cooperation,” stated Chairman Walker. “The committee remains committed to a transparent and orderly process.”
The IPCC serves as a vital link between political parties and the National Elections Commission (NEC), fostering dialogue and conflict resolution. The upcoming election of a permanent Secretariat is viewed by many as a critical step in strengthening Liberia’s democratic framework ahead of future electoral cycles.
The readjustment of the date and the event venue highlights a continuing trend of decentralizing key political activities away from the capital, Monrovia, to ensure broader regional participation.
