Executive Mansion, Monrovia – In a decisive move to save the face of the government’s “R” (Rule of Law) in the “ARREST” agenda, President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. today suspended the Deputy Minister for Youth Development at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Mr. J. Bryant McGill, following serious allegations of involvement in the rape of a minor.
In a statement, the Executive Mansion said, “This decision has been taken in line with the government’s zero-tolerance policy toward all forms of sexual and gender-based violence and to ensure a fair and transparent investigation.”
The statement concluded that the Deputy Youth and Sports Minister will remain suspended until the conclusion of the investigation.
In a related development, the Liberia National Police (LNP) earlier today, held a press conference to address the status of the investigation.
Police Inspector General Col. Gregory O.W. Coleman speaking in Monrovia admitted that reports from one of six government’s accredited medical facility shows that the victim has been tempered with following an examination.
On September 15, 2025, renowned Liberian lawyer and criminal justice expert Cllr. Taiwan S. Gongloe blasted the government for not detaining Deputy Minister McGill for his alleged commission of the crime of rape of a minor.
Cllr. Gongole said Minister McGill should be in police cell because of the grave nature of the allegation, stressing that there should be no selective justice.
“I am so angry this morning to hear that Deputy Minister McGill, the man who was accused of raping a 14-year-old girl is passing up and down in the street,” Cllr. Gongloe blasted.
The former Solicitor General of Liberia cited Article 11(c) of the Liberian Constitution which calls for equal protection for every Liberian.
