MONROVIA – Sinoe County Senator Crayton Oldman Duncan has called on Liberians—especially young voters—to take charge of the nation’s destiny by making informed and patriotic choices at the ballot box.
Speaking on Saturday during an engagement with more than one hundred commercial motorcyclists and residents of Thinkers Village, District #6, Montserrado County, Senator Duncan underscored the urgent need for Liberians to prioritize national interest over political loyalty and foreign influence when electing leaders.
“Our country’s resources have been grossly mismanaged and exploited under both past and present administrations,” Senator Duncan declared. “Unfortunately, these governments have failed to take concrete actions to address the real challenges our people face, largely due to fear of sanctions from international partners, especially the United States. As a result, Liberia continues to lose valuable resources while the ordinary citizens receive little or no benefit.”
The outspoken lawmaker, known for his strong stance on governance reform, said it was time for Liberians to rise above politics of handouts and empty promises, and instead demand leaders who are bold, accountable, and committed to national transformation.
“The time has come for us to reject politicians who seek office for personal gain or to serve the interests of foreign powers,” he continued. “Liberia belongs to us. We must reclaim ownership of our country’s destiny by electing people who will fight for economic justice, equality, and a better life for every Liberian.”
As part of his outreach, Senator Duncan donated One Thousand United States Dollars (US$1,000) to the group of motorcyclists as gasoline support, acknowledging their significant contribution to Liberia’s local transport sector and the broader economy.
He described motorcyclists as “the backbone of community movement,” praising their daily sacrifices in providing affordable transportation and sustaining countless families across the country.
“You are not just transporters you are the heartbeat of our streets, the link between communities, and vital contributors to our economy,” Duncan told the group. “Supporting you is not an act of generosity; it’s a recognition of your importance to Liberia’s development.”
The Thinkers Village engagement, he said, is part of his ongoing grassroots outreach program, aimed at staying connected with ordinary Liberians and amplifying their concerns at the national level. Through such initiatives, Senator Duncan hopes to strengthen civic awareness, promote transparency, and push for equitable distribution of Liberia’s resources.
He reaffirmed his commitment to championing policies that empower the working class, promote youth development, and ensure accountability in government.
“Liberia will only rise when its citizens demand honesty, fairness, and justice from their leaders,” Senator Duncan concluded. “Let us take that responsibility seriously for ourselves and for future generations.”
