Monrovia — The Acting PRO of the Unity Party (UP)-Alliance and National Chairman of the Liberia First Movement (LFM) Mr. Leayee E. Togba, Jr. is calling on Executives of the Alliance to prioritize the full participation of youths in the governance process.
In a communication to the Acting Chairman of the UP-Alliance and UP NEC on November 12, 2025, Mr. Togba stated that it important to address a critical factor that holds significant potential for the UP Alliance which he reference as, “the active engagement of youth in the governance process.”
“The recent sentiments expressed by the younger demographic within our alliance underscore a growing desire for inclusion and participation, which must not be overlooked”, Togba stressed.
During a media engagement at a recent offline meeting with the youth, the Acting PRO of the UP-Alliance said he observed a vibrant exchange of ideas and narratives that reflect their concerns and aspirations.
According to him, the insights shared illuminated the systemic challenges they face, and their resilience in the face of these challenges is noteworthy.
Togba acknowledged that their perspectives not only highlight their determination but also signal a reservoir of solutions that could be beneficial to governance strategies if appropriately harnessed.
However, Togba admitted that “there is a palpable concern among our youth regarding their role in the decision-making processes of our party,” emphasizing that, “This dissatisfaction stems from a perception of exclusion, which, if left unaddressed, could lead to disengagement or even radicalism.”
While some of the views circulating among the youth may seem extreme, Togba proposed that they channel this passionate energy towards constructive outcomes that can enhance the political landscape.
“Our leadership must acknowledge and advocate for the inclusion of youth voices in our governance framework”, Togba said. He believes their unique insights can foster innovative approaches to the challenges being faced by the alliance.
The National Chairman of the Liberia First Movement is optimistic that by integrating their talents and perspectives, the Alliance can cultivate an environment that values diverse contributions and enhances its overall effectiveness.
He lamented that to succeed in this endeavor, a unified commitment from all leaders within the UP Alliance is essential.
Togba furthered that supporting enthusiastic and driven youth of the Alliance will not only help them feel valued but also invigorate the movement with fresh ideas and strategies.
In concluding, Togba called on executives to embrace this pivotal opportunity to strengthen the alliance through youth involvement, stating that, “Together, we can initiate transformative changes that empower our young militants and reinforce the foundations of our movement.”
