MONROVIA – A new patriotic youth movement, the Concerned Citizens of Liberia “Spreading the Good News”, was officially launched today with a mandate to mobilize public support for President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s “Rescue Mission” development agenda.
Led by Coordinator Mr. Boakai S. Perry, the group describes itself not as a political party, but as a movement of “ordinary Liberian youth” dedicated to defending national progress and countering misinformation.
Rallying Behind the “Rescue Mission” In his launch statement, Mr. Perry highlighted a series of recent government achievements that triggered the formation of the group. He pointed to the historic national budget of US$1.2 billion and the restoration of electricity and pipe-borne water to parts of Monrovia as evidence of a “new dawn” for the country.
“For too long, our nation has remained undeveloped… But today, we are witnessing massive infrastructure projects breaking ground,” Perry stated.
The group specifically praised the administration for enabling the Liberia Petroleum Refining Company (LPRC) to import its own petroleum products for the first time in 30 years—a move Perry credits with reducing gasoline prices. He also noted Liberia’s upcoming seat as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council in 2026 as a return to global respectability.
The Concerned Citizens of Liberia aims to serve as a bridge between the government and the public. Perry emphasized that the group was born to “refuse to sit silently while misinformation and division try to slow down our march forward.”
“We will amplify your achievements,” Perry said, addressing the President directly. “We will explain the sacrifices today that guarantee prosperity tomorrow.”
While pledging unwavering support to the administration, Perry also promised that the movement would hold officials accountable.
“We will hold public officials accountable with respect and truth. We will fight corruption wherever it hides,” he affirmed.
The launch concluded with an open invitation to Liberian youth across all counties and political affiliations to join the movement, stressing that national development is “not the work of one man… but the combined duty of every citizen.”
