Monrovia — President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has officially appointed Counselor Kanio Bai Gbala, leader of the Liberia Centrism Movement, to the Board of Trustees of Grand Gedeh University (GGU). The appointment, announced by the Executive Mansion earlier today, marks a strategic move to strengthen the leadership and oversight of the higher education institution in southeastern Liberia.
Counselor Gbala joins the board as the designated representative of the Grand Gedeh Bar Association. His supporters view his appointment as a step toward expanding academic programs and improving infrastructure at the university.
As a member of the Board of Trustees, Counselor Gbala will be tasked with providing fiduciary oversight, approving long-term strategic plans, and fostering partnerships to benefit the student body and the local community.
A seasoned legal professional with extensive experience in public policy and governance, Gbala has previously held various high-level roles within the Liberian government, including a significant tenure at the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC).
The appointment is effective immediately. The Centrism leader is expected to join his colleagues on the board for the upcoming fiscal and academic planning sessions.
