Diaspora Organization Calls for Legislative Action to Protect Liberian Businesses
Philadelphia, PA, USA – Public Safety for Liberia (PS4 Liberia Inc.), a United States–based Liberian diaspora nonprofit organization, has formally endorsed the January 7, 2026 petition urging the National Legislature to pass the Liberia Business Development Authority (LBDA) Act.
The petition, organized by the Patriotic Entrepreneurs of Liberia (PATEL Inc.) in partnership with the Economic Action Movement of Liberia (EAM), seeks renewed legislative action on the LBDA Act, which was initially submitted to the Legislature in March 2023.
PS4 Liberia stated that sustainable public safety and national stability cannot be achieved without economic inclusion and job creation. According to the organization, widespread unemployment and limited economic opportunity continue to undermine social order and development.
If enacted, the LBDA Act is expected to:
Promote job creation for Liberians
Strengthen and protect Liberian-owned businesses
Address unfair economic practices and exploitation
Establish a Fast-Track Economic Court to resolve business-related disputes
Enhance transparency, accountability, and economic stability
The organization emphasized that the January 7 petition is nonpartisan and should be viewed as a national development initiative rather than a political activity. PS4 Liberia is calling on Liberians in all 15 counties, as well as those in the diaspora, to support the effort.
PS4 Liberia noted that the proposed legislation would benefit not only today’s workforce but also future leaders and policymakers who will eventually rely on a fair and stable business environment. The organization reaffirmed its commitment to civic education, public safety advocacy, and the mobilization of diaspora expertise in support of Liberia’s long-term development goals.
