Having been banned from fans attendance at its home, Algeria’s MC Alger chance of progressing to the CAF Champions League group stages stands little chance against a highly motivated FC Fassell team which has taken over month preparing for the duel.
Both FC Fassell and MC Alger squads landed in Liberia this week with the former arriving two days earlier and will be locking horns at the famous Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville on Saturday, September 20, 2025.
Like the saying goes, “early preparations bring good result”, so is the case with FC Fassell in this upcoming contest.
The Liberia 1st Division Champions had a month training camp in the Egyptian Capitol of Cairo, where they played several friendly matches with big guns from African football and as well as Asian heavyweight without tasting defeat, which by all indications is a boost for the Saturday’s encounter.
A massive promoting for fans turnout has got influence in the match, as FC Fassell will have huge fans support backing at SKD to have a favorable result to take to Algeria on September 27.
A win here will definitely have a big impact on the second leg, with no home fans support to boost MC Alger energy back home.
CAF last week officially activated MC Alger’s home match ban in the CAF Champions League. The sanction comes after crowd trouble during their clash with Orlando Pirates in last season’s CAF Champions League thereby allowing them to play the second leg of the preliminary round against FC Fassell behind closed doors.
FC Fassell’s progress will surely be a big boost for Liberian football, as been said by Mr. Cassell Anthony Kuoh, President of FC Fassell.
An independent survey of the match by THE INFORMER NEWSPAPER shows that every street corner across Monrovia, Paynesville and Gardnerville is discussing the FC Fassell vs MC Alger match.
One in every ten football lover in Liberia is aware of this match, highlighting the massive media publicity for the match, a dividend that would likely pay off with massive fans attendance.
