In a landmark moment for Liberia’s growing cybersecurity community, Victor K. Jarlwood Jr. has successfully completed the prestigious UNDP Regional Cybersecurity Experts Training, joining a select group of highly skilled youth from across Central and West Africa committed to using technology as a force for peace.
The program, known for its intensity and exceptional discipline standards, pushed participants through months of demanding coursework, followed by 10 weeks of advanced online studies and 2 weeks of rigorous in-person training led by global experts in cybersecurity and peacebuilding.
But what truly set this cohort apart were the sacrifices demanded of them.
For two weeks, participants endured 5AM military drills, daily physical conditioning, and multiple cybersecurity exercises at 1PM and 10PM, all designed to sharpen both mind and body. Sleepless nights became routine as trainees balanced technical mastery with physical endurance.
Despite differences in nationality, culture, and language, the group developed an unbreakable bond.
“Through it all, we united beyond our cultures, languages, and comfort zones,” Jarlwood said.
“We learned discipline, solidarity, and excellence. Without discipline, we are simply disabled youths.”
Graduates left the program not only as certified cybersecurity practitioners, but as Tech4Peace Advocates prepared to promote digital safety, collaboration, and stability across the continent.
Jarlwood emphasized that the training served as a molding process, shaping each youth into a responsible ambassador for peace and digital resilience.
“We walk away as leaders—ready to return to our nations and make positive impact with the skills we’ve gained.”
The initiative was made possible through the support of UNDP, Give1 Project, and the Open Society Foundation, organizations committed to strengthening Africa’s cyber capacity and empowering its next generation of peacebuilders.
As Liberia continues to rise as a cybersecurity talent hub, Jarlwood’s achievement marks a proud milestone for the nation.
Tech4Peace. Peace for All.
