Capitol Hill, Monrovia — The Plenary of the House of Representatives has instructed the Sergeant-at-Arms to compel the appearance of the Minister of Finance and Development Planning, his deputies, and the Comptroller General. The officials are required to address the full body regarding ongoing delays in government salary payments.
The decision was reached Tuesday, March 10, 2026, during the 18th Day Sitting of the 55th Legislature’s Third Session.
The directive mandates Sergeant-at-Arms General Morris Gibson to produce the officials before the House to explain the circumstances behind the payment backlog. Lawmakers emphasized that these delays compromise the well-being of public servants and the efficiency of government institutions.
The House reaffirmed its commitment to its oversight role, noting that the appearance of these officials is necessary to ensure transparency, accountability, and a swift resolution for workers across the country.
