MONROVIA, LIBERIA – The Liberia Football Association (LFA) has handed down strict penalties to more than a dozen footballers and technical staff members. This follows a rigorous review of match officials’ reports, video footage, and inquiries into violations of professional conduct during recent matches in both the Men’s First Division and the Women’s Upper Division.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, the LFA Disciplinary Committee confirmed that several players and technical staff members have been suspended from all football-related activities for four months. Additionally, each individual has been fined LRD 50,000 for regulatory breaches occurring during the most recent round of league matches.
Disciplinary Actions by Club
The sanctions affect three major clubs across the divisions, with FC Fassell and Bushrod Queens accounting for the highest number of penalized personnel.
Those penalized include:
Bushrod Queens: Felicity Asante, Benjamin K. Doe, Nailea Boimah, Success Wisdom, Odell E. Togbah, and Fatima B. Gboah.
FC Fassell: Gifty H. Gboah, Ahmed Savage, Ibrahim Coulibaly, Veronica B. Johnson (Medic), and Watchin Harmon (Head Coach).
Earth Angels: Christina Jappah and Orlet Obey.
Meanwhile, in a separate move to uphold the integrity of the game, the LFA Referee Committee has suspended match official Sylvester S. Sayon. Sayon has been banned from all football activities for three months following “unprofessional behavior” exhibited at the conclusion of a Third Division league match at the Doris Williams Stadium in Grand Bassa County.
The LFA reiterated its commitment to maintaining discipline and sportsmanship across all levels of Liberian football, noting that all suspensions take effect immediately.
