Monrovia, Liberia: — Representative Jerry K. Yogboh Sr. of Montserrado County District #12 has resigned from the Citizens Movement for Change (CMC), delivering a sharp rebuke of the party’s internal processes and reaffirming his commitment to principled, independent leadership.
In a decisive communication to party leadership, Yogboh acknowledged the CMC’s move to impose an indefinite suspension on him along with his removal as Vice Chairman for Finance & Investment/National Treasurer but condemned the process as fundamentally flawed. He argued it lacked fairness, transparency, and respect for democratic standards.
“At no point was I given a clear, impartial, and structured process,” Yogboh asserted, warning that such actions erode both individual rights and the credibility of party leadership.
Declaring his next step, the lawmaker announced his immediate resignation from all party roles and membership. He framed the move not as political retreat, but as a principled stand.
“This decision is taken in good faith and in defense of my integrity, which is non-negotiable,” he stated.
Yogboh made clear that his departure from the CMC does not affect his mandate. He emphasized that his loyalty remains firmly with the people of District #12 and his constitutional oath.
Yogboh defended his recent positions in the House, stressing they were guided by democratic values and constitutional order not partisan pressure.
“Independence in judgment is not indiscipline; it is central to the mandate I carry,” he declared.
Reassuring constituents, Yogboh said his resignation is a step toward greater accountability, transparency, and respect for the rule of law in his public service.
He closed by thanking members of the CMC for their collaboration and wishing the party well, even as he charts a new course as an independent voice—one he says will remain focused on the people, the Constitution, and the national interest.
