GBARPOLU COUNTY – In a significant demonstration of leadership and community support, Representative Luther S. Sandy Collins has donated a large quantity of building materials and essential community supplies to several towns and villages across Belle District in Gbarpolu County.
The donation package includes 22 bundles of zinc, 100 bags of cement, and three hand pumps intended to support ongoing community development initiatives, improve access to safe drinking water, and enhance public infrastructure within the district.
Speaking during the presentation, Rep. Collins said the initiative forms part of his continued commitment to responding to the urgent needs of residents and supporting local communities through tangible development efforts.
According to him, 85 bags of cement have been allocated for the construction of a mosque in Lowuma Town in the Gbinda Region, a project expected to provide a permanent place of worship and strengthen religious activities within the community. The remaining bags of cement will be delivered to Kornahun Town to support local construction and community improvement efforts.
The lawmaker also disclosed that three hand pumps have been assigned to Karmo Base, Kondensu Junction, and Kornahun Town respectively, with the aim of improving access to clean and safe drinking water for hundreds of residents who continue to face challenges in obtaining reliable water sources.
In addition, 16 bundles of zinc were donated to Sasasu Town for roofing and construction purposes, while the remaining bundles and materials were distributed to other communities based on requests submitted to the District Representative’s office.
Residents and community leaders across Belle District praised the gesture, describing it as a timely intervention that will directly impact the lives of ordinary citizens. Many noted that the donation reflects Rep. Collins’ commitment to addressing the practical needs of his constituents despite the numerous challenges confronting the district.
The donation comes at a time when many communities in rural Gbarpolu continue to struggle with inadequate infrastructure, limited access to safe drinking water, and insufficient public facilities. Citizens believe the materials provided will help accelerate several ongoing community projects and improve living conditions for local residents.
Representative Collins reaffirmed his dedication to working with local leaders and residents to promote development throughout Gbarpolu District #2, emphasizing that community empowerment and equal access to basic services remain central to his leadership agenda.
