Monrovia — In Preparation For Liberia’s 179th Independence Day Celebration, the General Services Agency, (GSA) has commenced a major renovation of the historic Centennial Pavilion in Monrovia.
The renovation marks the first comprehensive restoration of the landmark building since it was constructed in 1947, nearly 80 years ago.
The project includes extensive rehabilitation of the roof as well as significant improvement to both the exterior and interior of the structure.
According to GSA, the renovation began in early May 2026 and is progressing steadily.
The Agency expects the project to be completed before the country’s July 26th Independence Day Celebration.
The Centennial Pavilion has long serve as one of Liberia’s most important national landmarks, hosting Presidential inauguration, state ceremonies and other significant national events.
The ongoing rehabilitation is aimed at preserving the historic structure while ensuring it is ready for this year’s Independence Day activities.
