Monrovia, Liberia: — The Governance Commission (GC) has provided technical guidance to the Food Authority of Liberia (FAL) on its National Food and Feed Quality and Safety Act, as part of efforts to streamline institutional mandates and avoid duplication in government.
The GC’s Public Sector Reform (PSR) Mandate Area on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, hosted a meeting at its 3rd Street, Sinkor conference room with a team from the Food Authority to embark on the process. The engagement focused on reviewing documents submitted by FAL and addressing concerns over overlapping functions with other ministries and agencies.
Presenting findings on behalf of the GC, Mr. Bill Tobga, Policy Analyst-I of the PSR Mandate Area, displayed a coordination matrix designed to guide institutions with similar responsibilities on how to establish collaboration mechanisms.
Also speaking at the meeting, the Oversight Commissioner of the PSR Mandate Area Madam Sianeh Sackie Juah, said the commission reviewed the documents and made a few recommendations. “GC is willing to work with the FAL to resolve conflict as per the mandate of FAL,” she stated.
For her part, the Director of the Food Authority of Liberia Madam Priscilla Cherue, lauded the Governance Commission for its role in policy reform. She assured that the FAL will review all recommendations from the commission and take swift action toward implementation.
