Monrovia – Information Minister Jerolinmek Matthew Piah has strongly condemned the misuse of public infrastructure by citizens, taking aim at Liberians who consistently criticize the country while actively participating in its neglect.
Speaking during the Ministry of Information (MOI) regular press briefing on Tuesday, the government spokesman frowned at the rampant dumping of garbage into drainage systems. He described those responsible as unpatriotic and urged them to immediately desist from the behavior.
Minister Piah emphasized that the multi-million-dollar road project gifted to Liberia by the people and Government of Japan must be properly managed, noting that it was funded by Japanese taxpayers.
He revealed that during the recent groundbreaking ceremony for the expansion of the 1.9km road from the Gabriel Tucker Bridge to the Freeport of Monrovia, the Japanese government explicitly expressed disappointment over the poor upkeep of the Japanese Freeway, citing the huge stockpiles of waste left along the corridor.
