MONROVIA — The Government of Liberia, through the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (MoPT), has officially commenced the rollout of the National Digital Postal Address System (NDPAS), a landmark infrastructure project designed to modernize the country’s layout.
The system will assign unique, traceable digital codes to every home, business, and public facility nationwide. Authorities state the initiative will drastically accelerate emergency response times, boost e-commerce, and improve public service delivery across all 15 political sub-divisions of Liberia.
As part of the initial rollout, the government has recruited more than 400 young Liberians to conduct field mapping and data collection.
Speaking briefly today at the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications in Monrovia, NDPAS Director Dixon Gwion announced that field operations will launch in a phased approach, initially targeting Montserrado, Margibi, Lofa, and Nimba counties before expanding to the rest of the country.
For his part, Posts and Telecommunications Minister Sekou M. Kromah expressed strong optimism about the project’s impact, noting that the system will critically improve timely interventions during health emergencies and natural disasters. The Minister also clarified that the digital addressing program is being fully funded by the Government of Liberia.
