Monrovia — The Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) has announced that its political leader and former President of Liberia, George Manneh Weah, will return to power in 2029 to complete his “unfinished mission” of transforming the lives of the ordinary masses.
Alvin Wesseh, the National Vice Chair for Operations and Political Education, made the declaration on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, during an appearance on the 50-50 Show on Sky FM 107.1. During the broadcast, Wesseh maintained that the former president’s vision for the country remains very much alive.
Wesseh argued that the former president’s mission would have reached its conclusion had he secured a second six-year mandate from the Liberian people during the 2023 elections. He stated that the CDC’s narrow loss in that election “interrupted” the former leader’s progress, leaving his national agenda incomplete.
“Every generation has a mission,” Wesseh stated. “His mission would have ended had he become the president for the second term.”
The vocal CDC official further explained that a second term would have allowed Weah to “complete the unfinished business of our national liberation projects.”
Wesseh’s comments serve as a clarion call to the CDC’s base, confirming that the party is already mobilizing for the 2029 general elections. According to Wesseh, returning George Weah to the helm of power “is a must.”
In a bold concluding statement, Wesseh—speaking in his capacity as a spokesperson for the CDC Revolutionary National Youth League—asserted that the movement to bring the former president back to power is so driven by the will of the people that it “will not even need his [Weah’s] consent.”
