Monrovia, Liberia — The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) Nimba County Detachment, in collaboration with Joint Security, has arrested a suspect identified as Mohamed Sheriff at the Ganta Port of Entry for illegal possession of controlled substances, a statement from has said.
The LDEA in said, “the arrest was carried out on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at approximately 1:30 PM, during a routine security operation conducted at the border point.”
According to reports, during the operation, officers confiscated two hundred and fifty-nine (259) packs of Tramadol tablets from the suspect. Authorities also recovered Seven Hundred Thousand (700,000) Guinean Francs, equivalent to approximately Fourteen Thousand Seven Hundred Liberian Dollars (L$14,700).
The estimated street value of the seized drugs is Seven Million Seven Hundred Seventy Thousand Liberian Dollars (L$7,770,000), equivalent to Forty Thousand Eight Hundred Nine United States Dollars (US$40,809).
The suspect is currently in the custody of the LDEA Nimba County Detachment undergoing investigation, while the confiscated drugs and cash have been secured as evidence.
