Paynesville — In a move to bolster institutional integrity, the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MYS) has announced the suspension of three high-ranking officials from the Monrovia Vocational Training Center (MVTC), effective Monday, April 6, 2026.
The suspensions come as the Ministry launches an internal investigation into the center’s operations.
Mr. Wilfred Payne (Director), Mr. Hamilton Faryah (Finance Officer), and Mr. Kenneh Lawson (Admissions Officer) have been relieved of their duties pending the outcome of the inquiry into the operations of the government-run tertiary institute.
According to a statement from the MYS, the internal investigation is mandated to be completed within one month. While the Ministry did not specify the exact nature of the allegations, the probe aims to ensure that the center’s administrative and financial protocols align with national standards.
Meanwhile, to ensure that student training and daily operations at the MVTC remain uninterrupted, the Ministry has appointed an interim management team.
Those appointed include Mr. Alieu Kemokai, Acting Director General for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET); Mr. Cyrus Zizi, Acting Director of MVTC; and Mrs. Kaema Jones, Acting Administrator of MVTC.
The Ministry emphasized that these administrative actions are a necessary step in maintaining public trust.
“These actions underscore the Ministry’s commitment to accountability, transparency, and the effective delivery of technical and vocational education services across Liberia,” the statement read.
The MVTC remains a cornerstone of Liberia’s strategy to empower youth through technical skills, and the Ministry assures the public that these measures are intended solely to strengthen the institution’s service delivery.
