MONROVIA — In a swift and unprecedented anti-narcotics crackdown, President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. has ordered the immediate dismissal, suspension, and criminal investigation of several high-ranking state security officials and government personnel.
The sweeping executive actions, announced by the Executive Mansion on Thursday, July 30, 2026, follow the President’s review of a comprehensive status report on ongoing investigations into two massive, multimillion-dollar narcotics trafficking cases that have gripped the nation.
According to an official statement signed by Presidential Press Secretary Atty. Kula Bonah Nyei Fofana, the purges hit the highest echelons of Liberia’s premier security apparatuses, including the National Security Agency (NSA), the Liberia National Police (LNP), the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA), and the management of the Roberts International Airport (RIA).
High-Level Purges at the Top
At the forefront of the executive directive, President Boakai dismissed three prominent security chiefs from their respective positions with immediate effect:
Mr. Mark Egon Kuiah, Deputy Director for Operations at the Roberts International Airport (RIA)
Mr. Johnny Bolar Dean, Commissioner of Police for Criminal Investigation, Intelligence, and INTERPOL
Mr. Patrick Doe, Deputy Director for Administration at the National Security Agency (NSA)
Furthermore, the Commander identified as Mr. Patrick Komasu (702), who had been seconded to the LDEA, has been recalled from his assignment, suspended without pay, and placed under active investigation.
Institutional Purge Over Airport and Duazon Drug Busts
The President’s order enforces a zero-tolerance mandate, directing the immediate dismissal of all government employees and law enforcement officers indicted in connection with two historic drug seizures—the intercept of 198 plates of processed cocaine at RIA and the record-breaking confiscation of 3,971 plates of cocaine from a compound in Duazon.
For their roles at the airport gateway, the President terminated Mohammed O. Gbowrah (Director of Security at RIA) and Moses Jallah (Deputy Commander of the LDEA at RIA).
Additionally, the Executive Mansion confirmed the dismissal of the two high-profile police officers accused of using official government vehicles to transport a massive narcotics consignment from Vincent Town along the Bomi Highway to the vicinity of Mega Mart in Thinker Village, Paynesville. They are identified as Anthony T. Blaye and Wadell W. Kwarbo.
Intelligence Agents Handed Over for Prosecution
In a deeper escalation, President Boakai directed that four individuals be stripped of their posts and immediately forwarded to the Ministry of Justice for criminal prosecution. They include three intelligence operatives and a line-ministry director:
Jammel V. Jallah, Agent, National Security Agency (NSA)
Christian L. Nyantee, Agent, National Security Agency (NSA)
Albenigo Janior, Agent, National Security Agency (NSA)
Caycee Nelson, Procurement Director, Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection
“No Fear or Favor”
The massive shakeup underscores the Boakai administration’s intensifying campaign against transnational drug networks, coming on the exact same day the Joint Security publicly burned $336 million worth of seized cocaine in Careysburg.
“These actions demonstrate the administration’s resolve to ensure that no public official or government employee who engages in criminal conduct remains in public service,” the Executive Mansion statement read.
President Boakai emphasized that the government will continue to enforce the law “without fear or favor,” warning that national security and Liberia’s international reputation will be safeguarded at all costs. The President has instructed all remaining law enforcement heads to intensify their cross-border investigations to ensure every lingering accomplice faces due process in a court of law.
