Monrovia, Liberia — Sinoe County Senator, Cllr. Augustine S. Chea, has officially broken ground for the construction of the Seekon Statutory District Administrative Building in Pelloken, marking a major development milestone for the district.
The groundbreaking ceremony took place on Sunday during the 7th Annual Conference of the National Rural Women Organization of Liberia (NRWOL), Sinoe County Chapter, where Senator Chea served as Guest Speaker.
The project follows an earlier symbolic groundbreaking exercise held in April and now enters its full implementation phase, with construction expected to officially commence next week.
According to the Office of Senator Chea, all necessary building materials for the project have already been purchased, concrete blocks molded, and the Senator’s construction team fully mobilized to begin work on what will become Seekon Statutory District’s first-ever administrative building.
Speaking during the ceremony, Senator Chea described the initiative as part of his ongoing commitment to bringing meaningful development and government presence closer to rural communities across Sinoe County.
The Senator also used the occasion to recognize former District #3 Representative, Matthew G. Zarzar, for what he described as his instrumental role in drafting the legislation that officially granted Seekon its status as a Statutory District.
Senator Chea praised Zarzar for his years of dedicated public service and acknowledged the strong working relationship both leaders maintained during Zarzar’s tenure in the House of Representatives.
The Sinoe lawmaker further expressed gratitude to Hon. Zarzar for his unwavering friendship and political support during the highly contested 2020 Midterm Senatorial Election.
“He stood with me during difficult political moments and remained a dependable friend despite the challenges,” Senator Chea stated.
In recognition of their long-standing relationship and Hon. Zarzar’s contributions to the district, Senator Chea announced that upon completion, the administrative building will officially be named the “Matthew G. Zarzar Administrative Building.”
Citizens praised Senator Chea for what they termed a practical demonstration of leadership and development-oriented governance aimed at improving local administration and public service delivery in rural Sinoe.
The Office of Senator Chea meanwhile extended profound appreciation to the people of Seekon Statutory District for their continuous cooperation and support toward the successful implementation of the project.
Residents believe the construction of the administrative building will strengthen governance, improve coordination of district activities, and provide a permanent government structure for local administrative operations in the area.
