Barclayville, Grand Kru County — The Liberia National Red Cross Society Grand Kru Chapter has dedicated hand washing materials to strategic places in Barclayville as part of the Global Hand Washing day celebration.
The Global Hand washing Day, celebrated annually on October 15, is an international campaign dedicated to promoting proper hand hygiene as a simple yet effective way to prevent diseases and save lives.
The Liberia National Red Cross Society actively participates in this global initiative as part of its public health and community outreach programs.
The objective of the Global Handwashing Day is to raise awareness about the importance of washing hands with soap and clean water, especially before eating, after using the toilet, and after contact with potentially unclean surfaces.
As part of its observance of Global Handwashing Day, the Liberia National Red Cross Society in Grand Kru undertakes a variety of community-based and educational activities across Barclayville City.
Meanwhile, the Liberia National Red Cross Society as part the celebration visited strategic places in Barclayville, inclusive of Schools, markets, among others.
During the event celebration, the Society provided hand-washing buckets to four schools in Barclayville, and the Barclayville general market at large.
The Global Handwashing Day, as observed by the Liberia National Red Cross Society, is more than a one-day event—it is part of a broader effort to build lasting hygiene habits within communities. By empowering citizens, especially children and youth, the Red Cross continues to play a vital role in improving public health and saving lives across Liberia.
