Monrovia, Liberia — Liberia’s Lone Star kept their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification hopes alive on Thursday with a resounding 3–1 victory over Namibia at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville.
The home side got off to a dream start when Ayouba Koisah confidently converted a penalty within the opening minutes, sending the SKD crowd into early jubilation. Just moments later, Sulman Bah doubled Liberia’s advantage in the 9th minute with a composed strike that left the Namibian defense stunned.
Namibia struggled to find their rhythm throughout the first half, while Liberia maintained control of the game through sustained pressure and quick transitions. The Lone Star’s dominance was further rewarded when Edward Ledluam added a third goal with a superb finish, effectively sealing the result before the hour mark.
Although Namibia managed to score a late consolation goal, it was not enough to alter the outcome as Liberia cruised to a crucial home victory.
The win propels Liberia to 14 points in Group [insert group letter], just one point behind Namibia, who remain on 15 despite the defeat. With only two matches left in the qualifying series, Liberia’s dream of reaching the 2026 FIFA World Cup remains within reach.
Head coach Thomas Kojo praised his players for their determination and discipline, emphasizing that consistency will be key in the remaining fixtures.
Liberia will next travel to Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, for a decisive encounter on October 13, where another victory could significantly boost their chances of qualification, depending on results elsewhere in the group.
