Monrovia, Liberia — The President of the National Customs Brokers Association of Liberia, James L. Hinneh, joined residents, community leaders, and stakeholders on Saturday at the One Doe Community Homecoming Festival, a major gathering focused on unity, development, and transformation within the Clara Town community.
Speaking during the event, Mr. Hinneh described the occasion as deeply personal, noting that he was born and raised in the slum community of Clara Town.
According to him, the festival served as a powerful reminder that genuine national development begins when citizens choose to invest in and uplift the communities that helped shape their lives.
“As someone who grew up in Clara Town, this moment means a lot to me,” he said. “Our communities deserve opportunities, support, and development, and it is our responsibility to give back.”
In a significant contribution toward community advancement, Mr. Hinneh and partners donated LRD $150,000 to support an ongoing community water project aimed at improving access to safe and clean drinking water for residents.
He emphasized that leadership should not only be measured by promises and speeches but by meaningful actions that positively impact people’s lives.
“True leadership is about making real contributions that improve the living conditions of ordinary people,” he stated.
Mr. Hinneh further reflected on the challenges and lessons learned from growing up in Clara Town, saying the environment taught many young people resilience, sacrifice, hard work, and determination.
He praised the growing spirit of unity among residents and urged young people from Clara Town and other underprivileged communities never to feel ashamed of their backgrounds.
“Your background should inspire your purpose,” he encouraged. “When we invest in our communities instead of dividing ourselves, we create a better future for the next generation.”
The One Doe Community Homecoming Festival brought together sons and daughters of the community, local leaders, youth groups, and residents in a collective effort to promote peace, empowerment, and sustainable development in Clara Town.
