Monrovia, Liberia : — The World Bank Group Executive Director for Liberia, Mr. Zarau Wendeline Kibwe, will arrive in Monrovia on Monday, April 27, 2026, for a two-day official mission.
The visit will include high-level government meetings and field visits to World Bank-supported project sites across the country.
During his stay, Executive Director Kibwe will pay a courtesy call on His Excellency President Joseph Nyuma Boakai and meet with the Minister of Finance and Development Planning, Hon. Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan, along with other senior government officials.
He will also hold discussions with the World Bank Group country team, the Liberian Chamber of Commerce, and the Liberia Business Association.
The mission will focus on assessing the development impact of World Bank-supported projects on the livelihoods of ordinary Liberians, identifying implementation challenges, and exploring prospects for additional investments aligned with Liberia’s national development agenda — particularly in the context of global geopolitical tensions and macroeconomic headwinds.
Consistent with the World Bank Group’s strategic priority of creating “more and better jobs,” Executive Director Kibwe will also engage the private sector on opportunities to unlock domestic investment and entrepreneurship through IFC platforms and advisory services.
In addition to Liberia, Mr. Kibwe serves as Executive Director for twenty-one other African countries: Botswana, Burundi, Eritrea, Eswatini, Ethiopia, The Gambia, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Rwanda, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, the Federal Republic of Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
The Executive Directors of the World Bank Group are responsible for the conduct of the general operations of the Bank and exercise all powers delegated to them by the Board of Governors under the Articles of Agreement. As one of 25 Executive Directors on the World Bank Group Boards, Mr. Kibwe’s office carries a dual mandate: to exercise fiduciary responsibility in the best interest of the institution, and to represent the interests and concerns of his Constituency member countries at the Boards — supporting their efforts to reduce poverty and promote shared prosperity across a diverse group of low- and middle-income countries.
Executive Director Kibwe will be accompanied on this mission by his Senior Advisor, Dr. Plingloh Emmanuel Munyeneh, a Liberian national.
